Soup/Chili/Side/Dessert Contest & Homemade Silent Auction

Dearborn, MO–Join Dearborn Christian Church (201 S May St. Dearborn, MO 64439) on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 5 pm to 7 pm for a Soup/Chili/Side/Dessert Contest & Homemade Silent Auction!

It’s $10 to enter a crockpot of your favorite chili/soup, appetizer/side, or dessert (enough of each to feed 20). $5 per person to sample, and Silent Auction of homemade items.

Edgerton Library to Host Open House

Edgerton, MO–All customers are invited to join the staff in celebrating the reopening of the branch! On Saturday, December 14th, enjoy Christmas music by the Cool Cats, refreshments, and the I Love My Library photo op from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. All visitors during branch hours will receive a fine forgiveness token. Join the Edgerton Branch Scavenger Hunt from December 14 – 20 using the free GooseChase app for a chance to win a $50 gift card.

Camden Point, MO–The Camden Point Community Betterment Committee is holding a Christmas Lighting Contest. The judging (by members of the Committee) will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2019.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Prizes are donated by Patty Farr, ReMax House of Dreams. 1st prize is a 32 inch tv! 2nd prize is a Bath and Body Works basket! 3rd prize is a gift card to Bravo in Zona Rosa!

Pictures of the winning locations will be posted on Facebook and the Chamber website.

Holiday Fun at the Library

Camden Point, MO–The Camden Point Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library is celebrating the holidays! Visit the branch on Monday, December 2nd to check out a 12-days-before-Christmas book-bundle and make a gingerbread house. You can also walk through a life-size gingerbread house. Supplies are free, but limited. One gingerbread house for each child. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Multiple sessions between 3 pm and 6 pm. Register online or call 816.280.3384.

Canto Chorale Presents “Love Made a Way”

Edgerton, MO–The Canto Chorale, directed by Darrell Willson, will perform “Love Made a Way” Friday, December 13, 7:30 p.m., at the Edgerton Christian Church. The Canto Chorale is a select group of vocalists and instrumentalists volunteering their talents to perform sacred music during the Christmas and Easter Seasons. Following the performance will be the church’s annual Candlelight Communion Service. Refreshments and fellowship following.

Christmas in Dearborn, Cookies with Santa and Dearborn Christmas Lighting Contest

Dearborn, MO–This year’s Christmas in Dearborn event will be held Saturday, December 7th from noon to 4 pm in the Community Center at 202 N. Commercial, Dearborn, MO 64439. Find unique, hand-crafted stocking stuffers and gifts from some of our local area vendors! Have some soup or chili of your choice, and take part in a silent auction! Kids can ride the barrel train (weather permitting)! This event is sponsored by the Northern Platte County Area Chamber of Commerce. Some of the confirmed vendors include: Calhoons Creations, Hall ‘n Honey, ReMax House of Dreams, and Good Earth’s Prime. 

Santa Claus will visit the Dearborn Fire Station (201 S. Commercial) for the Dearborn Area Fire Protection District’s annual “Cookies with Santa” event from 1 pm to 3 pm that same day (Saturday, December 7th). Mid-Continent Public Library will be on site with their “Countdown to Christmas Book Bundles,” which will be available to checkout with your library card. 

The Dearborn Community Betterment Committee presents...

The Dearborn Community Betterment Committee will hold a Christmas lighting contest for homes and businesses within the Dearborn City limits. The committee will judge the contest entries on Saturday, December 14th after dark (if there is bad weather they will judge the 15th). Santa’s Annual Visit; 4 pm to 5 pm at the Edgerton Fire Station (500 Belt Ave.)–Don’t miss Santa’s Annual Visit to the Edgerton Fire Station from 4 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, December 14th! The Pioneer Days Committee will also be at the Fire Station with a make and take ornament craft for kids, and Mid-Continent Public Library will be at the Fire Station with “Countdown to Christmas Book Bundles!”

Chili Cookoff and Hayrides; 4 pm to 7 pm at American Legion Post #445 (503 Belt Ave.)– The Legion will be holding a chili cookoff and serving for $5 a person! They will also give hayrides around town to sing carols and look at Christmas lights!

Edgerton Christmas Lighting Contest Judging; 7 pm–If you are participating in Edgerton’s Christmas Lighting Contest, please make sure your lights are on at 7 pm on Saturday, December 14th! The Edgerton Community Betterment Committee will come around to judge the entries.  Prizes donated by Patty Farr at Re/Max House of Dreams in Platte City!

Special Christmas “Messy Church”

Dearborn, MO–“Messy Church” is held monthly on the first Wednesday of each month at the Dearborn United Methodist Church. The December “Messy Church” has been rescheduled to Monday, December 9th to accommodate the North Platte R-1 Elementary School’s Winter Concert (which will be held at the high school at 6:30 pm on the 4th).

On December 9th, Messy Church will begin at 6:30 p.m. The attending children will then participate in a special Christmas program, which will begin at approx. 7:15 for their families to enjoy.
